Four Children Killed And Dozens Injured As Forces Loyal To Assad Target Syrian NurseryFriday 17th of March 2017 08:38:03 PM
Local reports say a mortar shell smashed into the nursery in the city of Harasta, near Damascus, with eye witnesses saying four children are dead and dozens are injured.
Harrowing pictures from the scene show children covered in blood crying out in pain and others lying in hospital beds severely injured.
It is understood that forces loyal to President Assad had been bombing the area in the past few days as the bloody Syrian conflict rages on.
The attack took oplace at approximately 10am local time.
The news came as footage emerged this week of children filling helium balloons with helium and metal to confuse Russian aircraft targetting Aleppo.
Syrian rebels have been urging the US and other western countries to provide fighters with weapons to counter the air strikes so they don’t have to resort to rudimentary ways to counter the attacks.
Nour al-Din al-Zinki, a rebel group spokesman, said they had made the ballons themselves and connected them to small detonators.
He said: “We know they are basic but they are one of the improvised weapons the fighters are in order to defend against the Russian airplanes and the regime airplanes that are bombarding the civilians.
We know, the Russians know, the Iranians know, the regime knows and the international community knows that the only way we can fight their planes is if we have sophisticated anti-aircraft weapon.”
